2000 camaro questions
I'm looking at a 2000 camaro v6 to buy for my mother, and i was wondering if anyone new of any information i need to know about 4th generation. as being a body repair technician, i know some. but i am wondering mechanically, is there anything that goes wrong generally on them. she's needs a dependable car and so far i believe this one would be.
-3800 v6
-excellent paint
-interior spotless
-108,000 miles
-new tires
- T-Top [no leaks}
for $4200.
ive drove the car and it rides like a Cadillac, and go's like a bat out of hell. i was very impressed with it. hit me back in an email and let me know what you think of it.

All the adds I see say no leaks, many do, you need to check the floor boards, Looks for staining and check to see if they are still there, Damage would be right where your feet would be if you where sitting in the back seat.
The most common issue is the intake gaskets. If it has not been done before it will need it soon. Second is head gaskets but that is a lot less likely. You should do a coolant pressure test to make sure the system holds pressure. If its not be done it will need a good coolant system flush. The orange antifreeze might be good for the environment but it breaks down into a sludge in 7-10 years. They can be tuff to get clean. A lot of heater cores have been replaced because they where just to plugged up. If the car is well maintain the coolant has been changed every 3-4 years and all is good. With any RM can make sure the trans shift solid hot, that is more the 20 minutes of driving.
3800 is a very dependable motor. If it has been maintain an you keep it that way it should be a 200K motor. Some see well over that.
