Default 2000 Camaro engine computer question?????

I bought a used engine computer for my 2000 3.8L auto camaro. Both computers had the same service number I think. Well I place the new used compter in my car and all kinds of light came on, the car started, but the gauges didnt work, The car did nothing when I pressed the car. Service engine light on, gauge light on. Do I have to get this computer programed before I can use it?

I just connected the ecm an started the car, did I mess the ecm up by doing that. I dont think this computer came from a camaro I think it came from some other car that used a 3800II because the guy had to come back in and get the interchange list.

It's called a relearn. You let the computer get to know your engine by leaving the key on for 15 minutes and letting it reset the system and start reading the sensors. You then let it idle at 15 minutes and then repeat the first step. You then drive the car at 55 for at least 1 mile to let it make sure it's reading accurate.

If you don't do that, your PCM could be getting whacked out readings from your sensors.
