itas not hard to learn, took me all of like 2 hours to have it down pat...

and if he doesnt upgrade the shift, then you'll beat it with astick since most regular autos shift at like 2-3k rpm and you can go up to 5000 (like 45 in1st gear) and plus more if you work with your gears
OK don't take this the wrong way but you need to learn a bit more about autos and how they work before spreading false info about them. A properly functioning stock auto will shift at red line under wide open throttle. And for drag racing a stick will not out perform a stalled auto in our cars.
thats weird bc my old 95 maro and our 2000 vette never went past 3000 on WOT
There must have been somthing messed in those cars then. I tune/and build LS1 cars and I can tell they are not supposed to do that. Shift points in cars that have the 4L60E auto (both cars you listed) are determined by RPM and vehicle speed, both permameters must be met in order for the trans to shift.

So i have pretty much narrowed it down to the midnight blue WS6 with 35,000miles and asking 18k o.b.o, after driving that manual last night it is all i have wanted to do, just gotta wait for the approval tommorow hopefully, then can set this plan in motion.

i'd like to say that if you've never drove a stick, an ls1 probably isn't the safest thing to learn in, unless you're a quick learner and havea huge practice space.
Ya i would definetly learn Manual on something with a little less power first.

idk its not that bad. i think the more power the easier it is to learn =]
i learned how to drive a stick on my 97 z28, granted, its not as powerful as the SS or TA but still adds more to the "oh crap! i better not do something dumb and wreck this car!" thing you know?

so then youre making sure you dont stall or run it off a hill.
