You did separate the flywheel from the torque converter? It is common practice to separate the flywheel and the converter BEFORE you remove the first trans bolt. Normally you want to see clearance between the flywheel and the torque converter because any side stress on the torque converter will damage it. If you did not take the flywheel off any the trans is hanging on the torque converter you are going to need a new torque converter and most likely a new front pump.
You should not have to deal with you input shaft until after the transmission is out and you decided to remove the torque converter.

Look for any marks on the Converter groove. The groove that fits into the transmission if there are any marks on it your going to need a front pump. I would not trust that pump anymore.

You really have no idea what your getting into with this rebuild. There are 1000 things you can do wrong in a rebuild and it only takes one to trash your tranny. You would be better off with a used low miles unit fram a yard with a warranty.

Ok, so i R&R'd it, i upgraded alot of ****, and replaced all bad parts. only cost about 700$ and it runs so nice.. until a few minutes ago i only have the forward gears. no reverse. but i went out, dropped the pan, and rechecked the boost valve (which wasnt in all the way) and i took 2 screwdrivers and got that son of a ***** in the groove and now i has reverse
