Newbie on the forum
here. I have a '97 Z28 30th annv. convertible. I have searched everywhere I can think of and I can't find how many convertible Z28s in the arctic white livery were made. I can find total production numbers, total convertibles, but not how many of these special editions were convertible automatic trans. Anyone have the numbers I'm looking for? Thanks for reading!
. The author uses the Comp Nine Data Bank of RPO codes to compile the total production numbers given.
According to the book, there were 518 Z4C convertibles with an automatic transmission for the United States. Another 41 were built for Canada. 373 of these cars had a white leather interior and 186 had the black and white houndstooth cloth interiors.
Wow, thanks so much for that information. So mine is one of only 373. I wonder how many are left out there? Can't be a lot. Again I really appreciate it!
The best reference I know for the breakdown of production totals by color and equipment is in the book by Robert Casey, All 1993-1997 Chevrolet Camaro Colors, Codes and Quantities. The author uses the Comp Nine Data Bank of RPO codes to compile the total production numbers given.

Do you know the source of the info in the books? Maybe it listed it in the book? I am told GM did not collect that type of data on the Camaro and where was this database from 1997 to 2017? I have seen guys use statics to reverse engineer production number and they can get close as they get more and more data but they should note that these are projected numbers if that is the case.
Firebirds are a different story because you can get copies of build sheets. In theory you could scan each one and use a scan to text converter then build the database that way.

Gorn, as I mentioned above, the author refers to using the Compnine website data base, especially for the color combinations, for the production totals used in the book. When the Compnine website was first published, I ran the VIN of my triple white 1998 Camaro SS convertible and it showed the car as 1 of 50 built with the same RPO's. Because GM ordered the car as part of a group of 50 to be used at the Indianapolis Speedway, that would seem to verify that Compnine information. The RPO data of the Compnine search also matched the Vehicle Build information of the car I received from my local Chevrolet dealer and the window sticker I received with the car. While I can't verfiy the accuracy of the Compnine data base or the book, I do feel that both are about as accurate information as you're going find for the 4th generation Camaro.
I am planning on repainting the stripes on my 97 anniversary and the black around the headlights
. The front bumper cover has been replaced and, of course, the stripes are missing. I could buy the decal kit but the originals were painted on. I know how to paint but the problem is I need a template for the front bumper cover, or at least precise measurements. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
