I have a 1996 RS that i just bought. It will crank but will not start. If it sits for a while it will try to start for about 5-10 sec. Had it running for a min or so on starter fluid, but when i quit spraying it died. Person i bought it from said it startes to sputter and died back in Oct and has been sitting since then. I think it is the fuel pump but looking for help ??

FYI, sure sounds like a fuel pump but you should check it for power .

Sure sounds like a fuel supply problem to me too. Put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail and see what's going on, or not.

 

when in doubt most mechanics can tell you whats wrong for free then you can fix it ,if you can then have them fix it
