Default 1994 Z28 Smells like fuel?

Hey guys

I just picked up a 1994 Camaro Z28. Its a beautiful car with only 39,000 original miles on it and is my daily driver... but it has one flaw

At idle and after shut down the smell of fuel is INTENSE both around the drivers rear wheel and even inside the car.

The dealership I purchased it from has completely replaced the entire evap system (canister, valves, and lines) and the small connecting lines down by the tank... now we're both stumped.

Any ideas on what else it could be?

Lol... every time I light a cigarette I keep waiting for the split second sound of all of the oxygen being sucked out of the car

sounds like the evap is failing, gas cap may be leaking, fill hose or vent hose may be damaged and leaking or evap canister may be full of fuel. your evap canister is behind the driver side rear wheel, under that plastic piece. if your evap solonoid or the control valve is failing it can fill the canister with gas. also if you over fill (fill tank more after the spout stops) it can fill the canister with gas. once overloaded the canister is toast and must be replaced.
testing evap thread is in the how to and faq sticky at the top of the 4th gen section here it is, https://camaroforums.com/forum/lt1-l...-system-51219/

Finally got the car back...

As it turns out the gas cap was faulty and the brand new evap control valve was stuck in the open position.

No more fuel smell
