Default 1994 SS Hood Wanted - OEM Only

The title pretty much says it all. Looking for an SS hood for a 1994 Camaro, the one made by American Sports car. I am looking on behalf of a friend who is not especially computer savvy. We are located in Western Central NJ, near the city of Lambertville. Any help or guidance to other venues to place this request I will be really appreciate. This hood is to replace one on a '94 SS where the hood was damaged beyond reasonable repair, Thanks, Antiqueynot

I think its great you want a OEM hood, You do know that the car did not come with that hood and there is no such thing as a 94 SS? The 4th Gen SS did not come out until 96. So you need a hood off a 96 or 97 SS.

The American Sports car hood is after market and still available through their web site.

1993-1997 Chevy Camaro Custom Ram Air Hood | American Sports Car

Finding a original OEM SLP SS hood off a 96-97 car is a nightmare. They do not come up often and when they do its a bidding war.

Gorn, Again, thanks for your help. Please understand that I am going by the information supplied by my friend, who I not the owner of the car but the owner of a body shop where the car is. In looking online, I see that there was a Z28 in 1994 and sometimes these are described as "Z28 SS". I understand that while this designation may not be correct, it MAY be terminology in common use. I am not arguing, please understand, I'm just trying to find a hood for this car. Would a 1994 Z28 have a hood from American Sportscar ? I do appreciate the benefit of your knowledge and again apologize for looking like an idiot. I HAVE chastised my friend for giving me bad info, thanks Antiqueynot

All 4th gen Camaros with V8's are Z28's, In 1996 SLP released the SS Camaro. SLP takes a Z28 and makes it a SS. It has a SLP hood made by a company from Canada under license from SLP (meaning they can not make the hood without SLPs OK) SLP also bough the rights to SS for the 4th gen so other hoods can not be sold as SS hoods. All SS Camaros have a SPL sticker on the door listing the SLP options and the SLP number so any SS Camaro can be confirmed by SLP.

American Sports Car is a Aftermarket company, they make a very good replica for the SLP hood, No they did not make the hood for GM or SLP just the copy, which is why they call their hood the "ram air" hood instead of the SS hood. GM only put one hood on the Camaro and SLP only put the SLP hood on the SS.

Does any of that matter? You wanted a American Sports Car hood and there it is.

Gorn, I most humbly and vigorously apologize for the misinformation, and I truly thank you for the complete history on 4th Gen Camaros, Z28s, SS's, and the American Sportscar hoods. Again I was emailed last evening by my friend who asked me to look for "a 1994 Camaro SS hood, OEM, manufactured by American Sportscar". Well, most obviously, such a hood does not exist. I apologize for obviously upsetting you and I absolutely understand why this upset you. On the cars I work on, I do complete research so I actually know what I'm talking about. The car I am working on now, a 1959 Morris Minor 2 door, and the car I just finished working on, a 1939 American Bantam roadster, both had the engines and trans replaced. The Morris had an 8 year newer engine swapped in, and the Bantam had an 8 year older engine installed. In both cases, I did research, through the appropriate forums, and when doing so, I found chassis IDs, engine IDs, and I knew what I was talking about. I am VERY embarrassed by what went on here, and, again, I apologize. As a diversion, and hopefully something you might enjoy, a little while ago I made a YouTube video about the 1955 Nomad that belongs to this same friend. If you choose to, go to YouTube and search for a video titled "Steve Affleck 1955 Nomad". His is a really nice car, and there is a description of the history of his car on the page below the video. I see that you own two fine Camaros and I really appreciate you taking the time to give me a thorough history of that vintage Camaro. Again, my apologies for the error, Antiqueynot

Well, this shows the video but on the actual YouTube page there is the story about Steve's ownership of this car, quite a tale.

I am not in away annoyed or mad. You had some bad information and now you know. There is a lot of miss-information floating around the point of a site like this is pass along correct information. I am not very good at the written word sorry is I came off as mad. I am a lot better with mechanical things.
