Hi guys, new here. My question is how big a job is it to replace the intake gasket on a 1993 3.4 with 125,000 mi. Wifes car, starts sometimes , sometimes it won`t. A mechanic said he heard a air leak at the back of the intake and it was drawing moisture from the air causing it not to start sometimes and the gasket is bad. He quoted 200.00 to put a new gasket in . If its not to complicated I would like to do it myself and save 175.00 bucks with the way money is tight right now.
Thanks in advance.

With the intake it is really simple, just lable all ur wires. Make sure u have ur hayes or chiltons manual for the tighting bolt order. I always untighten my bolt back word from the order, i go slow to make sure i dont snap a bolt. after that. make sure ur egr come off with the two bolts that hold it on be careful with the gas lines u will need a gas releasing tool and the gaskets just make sure they line up and u use a good gasket sealer on it . Then just put the bolts back in order they the book tells u to and make sure they are tight so u dont have any leaks. and ur good to go.
Oh yea make sure u dont yank on the intake when ur taking it off just take ur time and it will come right off the book will give u tips on how to get it off if it wont give u dont want to mess up the aluminum place where the gasket seals at.
