02 steering wheel and column in 96 camaro

Default 02 steering wheel and column in 96 camaro

Can anyone answer this for me...i'm doin a steering wheel and column swap in my 96 Camaro.the parts are coming off a 02 camaro....will this fit in my car ? Will the airbags still work..thanks

yup it will bolt right in its the same part

Are you sure? Aren't the airbags different?

ya i think the whole steering wheel is different but the plug should be the same and the column is the same

Will I have to put my ignition switch from the 96 into the 02 steering column....thanks

you will have to either make a new key with the 96's chip and the 02's pattern (easiest way but not the cheapest) or change the lock and tumbler from the 96 to the 02.

The steering wheel controls will not work in the 96 as the 96's BCM does not have any of the circuitry for it. They will not interfere with anything they just wont work as they should.

I'm using a aftermarket radio with an adapter to make the radio control buttons in the steering wheel work

Default 96 camaro steering wheel and column swap to a 02

Can I use the srs module that's in my 96 with the 02 steering wheel steering column and airbag...thanks

yes the modules are of the same type. I have done this swap once already and everything but the radio buttons worked. Since you have the aftermarket controler you should be able to get it all to work.
