Default '02, power steering leak

I have a power steering leak, and it is annoying. I have been trying to find this leak for some time now, after seeing a big spot on the ground underneath my car where I park. It does not leak when it sits, not moving, atleast, every time I have checked, it hasn't. But, this morning on a whim, after I started it up, I got underneath the car and looked, and found it dripping at that line/hose clamp about a drop every second. Not sure when it stopped, because I had to leave, but, last time I started it up to look for the leak, nothing dripped...was dry. So, I think it only drips when it has been sitting for a while, and then start it up...does that seem right?

My question is, is the red arrow on this picture the pressure line? If so, I can get one at the local O'Reilly's and replace it. Also, is it usual to have a rubber hose clamp there...? Doesn't seem right to me.

Thanks.

Not sure what line it is from this pic but the pressure line is the one from the pump to the rack, the return line goes to the res.

NO it is not normal to have a piece of hose there and a hose clamp. It looks like some one has made a pipe patch. Was your car owned by a sailor? That looks kinda like how we were taught how to temp repair pipes on a ship.

Thought so. I bought this car July of last year, and this is just one of the many little surprises.

I'm looking through the parts catalog, and still can't seem to figure out which hose that is. It's either GM#26068527 (HOSE/P/S FLUID CLR INL) or #26048589 (HOSE P/S GR OTLT). Looks like it's either an inlet or outlet, not pressure? I took another picture. Does this help you identify which one it is?

Just went and looked. The hose goes to the power steering cooler. If you were looking from the front of the car, towards the engine, and looked down at the power steering cooler, the lines attaches to the left fitting.

Hmm not sure... Lemme look on my wife's car when I get home and see where it goes on her's. By the pics I see you have an LS1, and I dont have a cooler on my V6.

Correct, it is an LS1.

Looks like that is GM# 26068527, return line. Lowest price anywhere is about $75 shipped to me. Kind of looking like I'd rather make my own hose. Does anyone know the fitting sizes for the cooler and pump?
