Default 0-60

Anybody up here know the stock 0-60 times of a 1996 z28 auto and a 1997 3.8 stick?

Usually see the LT1 fbodies range from 5.5-6 seconds for 0-60. The 3.8's are usually around 7-7.5 on the low end.

Damn. See i'm considering trades for a 3.8 5-speed for my auto z28, but I dont know if i can justify the trade with such performance drops.

Nothing against sixers, not hating or anything, but now that I've owned a Z, I could never get a Camaro with a six.

From my past experience (not opinion), with stoplight to stoplight driving, a 5 speed 3.4 would run circles around my old 94 3.4 automatic. Crap, my wife's 3.8 Chrysler minivan blew my doors off! I know it's not comparing apples to apples, but the same comparison would hold true with the 3.8 vs 3.8, unless the guy with the stick is napping. Have you tried driving the 3.8 yet? Not trying to promote the 3.8 over the Z28, but you have to decide which car has more to offer. Is your Z on it's last leg and going to start nickle and diming you to death, or vice versa? With all that said, nothing beats the low end torque of a V8. But what are you after?

lt1 auto vs 3.8 5sp no contest. 3.8 wins mpg hands down, lt1 wins mph hands down.

Yep, if all he's after is performance, there is no contest.
He's considering trading his Z28 for a 3.8, but why?
What makes the 3.8 look like a better prospect to him to even consider it?

Camaro 69- The 3.8 is a manual. I don't know why, but I actually crave the feeling of a mannytranny. Z28 is an auto, I feel like a girl.
