what can i do to stop this from rusting

Default what can i do to stop this from rusting

hey guys, well somehow i scraped my rims dont know when it happend. but i think its starting to get worse and worse, its definatly spreading the discoloration and scrapege look.

Most rims are clear coated, once the clear coat is damaged the metal underneath will tend to oxidize. You could try sanding the damaged area with something like 1000 grit paper and then spraying the area with clear coat

i agree with pete they need to be recleared, hit it with 800 wet than 1000 wet this way you can smooth out the scratches.

for uniformity i would take all 4 to a paint shop and have them all sprayed. on the other hand you could always get a can of spray clear and do it yourself.

clear coat it =-) thats what i had to do. btw thoes rims are BAD lookin i want em

If you plan on clear coating the outer rim over the existing clear coat, you'll need to sand/scuff the whole surface so it will adhere. Frankly, I'd just touch up the corner where the scratches are with a tiny brush, and leave the original clear coat on the face alone. The clear that's on there now may be baked on, which is more durable than rattle can. As I see it in the video, you can only notice the scratches when you put your nose up to the wheel.

what do you mean

so what im getting from you guys is that i shouldn't sand it just touch it up with some clear coat
