I dont know about rear ends either as I am looking for one myself but if you are going to be putting that much hp in you will also need subframe connectors(frame rails?). If you dont put them in with that much hp and torque you will most likely twist the body, especially if you have t-tops.

there are little tricks you can do to make the 10 bolt a little stronger. but all in all its not a good rear. you can run that kinda power to it if your easy on it. i got ahold of a 9 bolt. my computer programm says the motor i am building should have a shade over 410 horse and right around 460 somethin torque. SO chances are ill destroy this rear fairly quickly. When i do ill order a strange 12 bolt built for the third gen. i refuse to use the 9". not because its crap, fact is thats a very good rear. One thing that ford did right. but because i dont want to put ford parts on my chevy. if i ever build a ford i wont put chevy parts on it. its that simple for me.

as for your tranny. that 700r4 can be made fairly stout. if built correctly it should be able to hold up to that kinda power. but again, if it were to go out. get a 350 or a 400 to replace it. even a power glide.

I will be putting in a 383 stroker at some point and was also going to do the 700r4, but realized it too will break at some point and they are NOT cheap( the built ones anyway). so, since I will be doing little hiway driving, decided on the 350. they are easy to find. most hotrodders like the 700r4 cause they can cruise at speed on the hiway without blowing there motors.
so I guess at this point you need to ask yourself what your gonna need? a weekend fun ride you can beat on or a hiway cruiser?

jim: The 10 bolt you are running wont hold up too well to the 383, you have been warned.
