flush your coolant system. oil doesnt mix too well with water. so that probably not what it is. just old dirty coolant/water. get of all of it and put in some fresh stuff. if problem persists then it may be somethin a little more serious. but i doubt it.

yea, i flushed mine, and it looked worse. when i bought the car, it had a leaky rad and water pump, so most of the water would leak out and leave whatever deposits left. i had the garden hose on the intake and let it run for half an hour and i was still getting crud out of it

if your system is that clogged up the sensor for the fan may be too, not sure where its at on the 305, but you should have one or two sensors the screw into the coolant passages(not sure on the 305), while your flushing it pull them out and clean them off. might solve your problem. if nothing else hardwire the fan to a switch on the inside and straight to the battery or another power source

yeah i'm going to flush the radiator, but would this be a reason for heating up so fast?

yea, all that nasty stuff in there will make it run hot. i had an issue with my fan not turning on until about 225*. fir now, i just have a switch to the hot wire directly fed in. i plan on getting a solenoid though so the switch doesnt carry the full load as it gets hot. there are ones out there with lower temps programmed in, but my way is the cheapest and easiest way.
