Ok, so i'm so close to finding out what the crap is going on.

The transmission that is currently INSTALLED on the car looks like this,

, The one I bought has no serial number, signifying it ended up as a GM rebuild, correct? Both transmissions have a cable running from the base of the transmission right behind the servo. However, the one I bought to replace the broken one does NOT have the two pressure taps that run parallel to the pan. the only other major difference is, there isn't 3 holes on the end of the output shaft housing for the drivers side mount to go. Would it be possible to swap output shaft housings? So can I say that I have a 700R4 installed??? Man, im so close it hurts!

H.O. motor came with a higher lift and longer duration cam, dual snorkel intake system with `5.0 Liter H.O.' decal on air cleaner, specially calibrated Quadrajet carburetor, lightweight flywheel, electric cooling fan, bigger 2.75 inch exhaust and Corvette style wide mouth monolithic catalytic converter, 5.0 Liter H.O. exterior badging and interior emblem badging came standard with 3.73 rear axle gear. 4 speed automatic 700R4 introduced and was the only automatic available on V-8 cars. 5 speed manual was introduced and was only manual transmission available on V-8 cars.

the trans in the picture is a 700R4 and yes you can remove the tailhousing from the 700R in the car and put it on the trans you bought...unbolt it, and bolt it on yours....simple swap
