Will A 200R4 fit directly in place of a TH350 in my 86 Z, i know they are the same size but doest the cross member line up without modification? Or should a go the 700R4 route?
Ive got 370 posi behind the TH350 and i have a feeling im going to miss the overdrive when i finish my car.

no, its not a direct bolt in. driveshaft and cross member is different. however making the intelligent decision to go to a 700r4 means that you can get those at any boneyard. you may also need the speedo cable and tv cable. dont bother with the 2004r. there is a reason it was only used for 2 years

For the record, a 2004R is the same basic length as a short tail T350, and you can even use the same 27 spline driveshaft. The one difference between them is the crossmember mount. The 2004R's mounting point is about 6" further back than the T350's is. Stock for stock, the 700R4 is beefier, but takes more work to changeover. But like anything, the 200 can be built up to withstand whatever you want to give it.
