I have an 86 z28 with a factory tachometer. I have an aftermarket ignition system consisting of a Mallory comp 9000 distributer, Promaster Coil, and Mallory Hyfire box.

It's been forever since I put this thing together and I can't seem to remember what wire I should be looking for in the factory wiring harness for the tach, and where it should connect to. Anyone have an idea.

Seems like a pretty stupid question I know. I would appreciate any help.

 

You are looking for the white wire, pink is + and white is neg. I'm not familiar with Mallory, but on MSD the white gets hooked to neg/tach connector.

Yeah it's the white one. You just have to get the side that goes back to the ECM. I tried running mine on the one that goes from the coil to dis and it wouldn't work. don't know why... seems like they both should work.
