Default Soft Brake Pedal

My 87 Iroc has a soft brake pedal; especially when it's cold. No leaks, etc. Anyone else have this situation or a possible remedy? Brake pads are good.
Thanks.

did it just start doing it or has it done it all along? could try bleading the brakes, may have some air in the system.

I bought the car a year ago and it has been like that since I bought it.

Bleed the brakes, and if still soft you may want to check the rubber brake lines, as they may be old and expanding under pressure. Also there is a possibility of an internal master cylinder leak, which is not visible from outside.

i would completely flush the fluid. as it gets old and absorbs water, it tends to make the pedal feel softer. also, 4 wheel disc cars tend to have a softer pedal as well. also, when stopped, will the car start to creep? is it firmer if you press the pedal quickly vs. easing into it?

No, it doesn't creep. Pedal is the same whether pushing slow or quick. The only difference seems to be that when the car is cold, it is softer than when warmed up. Not sure what difference that could make, but it does. I'm going to have the system drained and refilled.

ok, then the master cylinder should be ok. let us know if the flush works out.
