Exclamation siphon plus other gas issues...

ok so my camaro has been sitting for 10 years so im assuming the gas is bad and thats a reason it is not running right. can i siphon the gas out from where the gas cap is or is there a safety mech inside to prevent that? also it smells like raw fuel when i give it gas like it is not burning it. could this be timing? or bad injectors? the idle is shaky and it seems like it is not running on all cylinders. im doing a tune up tomorrow to hopefully free some problems but i would also like to get that bad gas out! any suggestions? Thanks!

After sitting for 10 years, you should really drop the tank and wash/flush it out. There may be all sorts of slimy and/or rusty crusty crud in the tank. I also wouldn't be surprised if the rubber pump to sending unit connector is all rotted and leaking as well. Be sure to change the fuel filter too after cleaning the tank, that's a must.

clean out all the old fuel. replace the screen on the fuel pump, should probably replace the pump too. replace the filter and hope nothing is blocking the injectors now. replace cap, rotor, wires, and plugs and see how it runs. if it still is rough and has a fuel smell, we are here to help
