removing engine mounts
i am trying to get the engine mounts out of my 84 Z28 (bushings are shot) and i can seem to get to the nut on the back of the mounting bolts. any tricks out there to getting to them? i was hoping not to have to cut them off.

No, you don't have to remove the a-arms! I've done two cars in two days, its not that bad.
1st. get a small led flashlight and insert it into the a-arm/subframe connection to illuminate the whole area well.
2nd. Start on the passenger side. You can use a regular socket to get off the bottom nut, then go throught the "O" shaped hole in the subframe to get at the top two.
3rd. Driver side is a little easier, same drill bottom nut with socket, top two with 15mm wrench though the "O" cutout.
4th. put the inserts in correctly, by mistake i installed them backwards once and couldn't figure out how the motor wouldn't settle on them....stupid
5th. install the bottom nut on passenger side by taping it to the 15mm wrench. I used electrical tape loosely so it could twist to fit the inserted bolt easier, it worked well because the tape was pretty elastic. put a dab of grease and stick the nut to the washer, it should fall out if you can just get it started on the bolt.
6th, wear glasses and try not to swear too much, they will probobly fall of once or twice till you get the hang of it.
