engine mounts
Hey everyone. Im finishing the install of a 383 stroker in my 68 lemans (no, its not one of thecamaros....) and there is some concernnew stock engine mounts will break. Soon. Dyno info is405 HP/440 TQ Its got a 350 turbo trans and a stock open rear end. Sooo, the question is...Should I use what I have, or just forget the stock ones and try to find some beefier heavy duty ones, or find someone to reinforce/fabricate new ones? Thanks.

RE: engine mounts
Are you talking about the engine frame bracket, or the rubber motor mount? If the rubber mount, then don't use a stock rubber style, use urethane ones, they won't separate. And, if you're running an open diff with 400+ h.p., your right tire will break free before the engine mount does.

RE: engine mounts
I was actually referring to the frame brackets,as the car was originally a inline 6, and we did a V8 conversion. You brought up a very good point about rubber vs polyurethane, not something I had considered. My 70 camaro has been converted to all poly bushing suspension and Im very aware of the nice solid feel during cornering, etc.Eventually, the 68will have a posi carrier, so I may just deal with the mounts then. Thanks for your input.
