purchasing an 806 iroc, got a quick question
monday, i will be going to pick my car i just purchased today, i 1986 IROC-Z 5.0L with 65k on the odometer, 4 speed auto. when i test drove it today i noticed that the drivers floorboard was a little wet. the dealer said that there is probably a small leak some where. my question is : with the drivers side floor being a little wet, would that be more likely a T-TOP leak or windshield leak? i looked the car over but couldnt find any evidence of water damage anywhere. any help will be great as to what it could be. when i get the car home I'll get pics on here for you guys.

I would double check that 65000 odometer reading. 1986 models odometers only went to 99,999 then rolled over to zero. So it is possible that is a 165,000 car. Example my 1987 IROC-Z has only 6250 miles on it and I am the original owner (106,500 miles really). Now back to your question the leak could be anywhere 23+ hi-mile car. Sorry to burst your bubble on that 65 K car.

i didnt think it was legal to lie about the odometer reading? the dealership says it has 65k on it. we have had some heavy rain lately where i live. the liquid doesnt have a foul odor or color or anything like that. what other things can i look for incase it is a bad heater or something else.
btw I test drove this car twice. the first time i test drove the car, it was in the middle of a week that was all week in the mid 80's and sunny the floors were dry, the 2nd time i test drove it which was friday it was raining the day before i test drove the car. well im picking the car up tommorow as i got the loan for it already.
in my opinion although im not as mechanic or camaro savy as some of you on here but the cars steering is way too tight to be a high mileage car, body is in good shape, and the interior is in showroom condition. engine runs too good and smooth to be a high mileage car, the trans doesnt slip and shifts real smooth, nothing squeaks, creeks, smokes ,or leaks ( besides whats causing the floor to be wet.) everything is real clean with the exception of a pencil eraser size rust spot on the QP. i think its agreat car although im gonna have my mechanic look it over when i get it.
btw , sorry if im coming off as defensive.

thanks for the info. i'l look into this when i go there tommorow. if everything isnt kosher , i wont take it and call the bank to tell them to cancel the loan. the only reason i figure the dealership wouldnt juke me is because my stepdad knows a couple of people who work there, I bought my current truck from there, and there one of the most reputable used dealers in my area. i also know a few others who bought cars from there with good results. thank you for letting me know about these other things.

Up until I started my restoration, my 87 had 152,000. I bought it in 96 with 126,000 on it. The interior was pretty good, motor/trans/rear end were fine and I did have a few small rust spots as it was a Pa car for 22 years.
My point is that you would have never thought it has that many miles. Just be careful you get what you pay for.
