Im 16 andgot a 91 rs 305 and am wondering what i should do with it first?

Should iwork on the engine to give it morehp(the engine has 140,000 mi.)?

Or fix the body and interior (it has lots of nicks and and problem places)?

I hope you can help me decide.

 

Get the engine running good, tune up, and fix the body work. At 140 K the engine is past its prime and I would leave it alone till I could do a complete rebuild.

 

Your 16. You don't need more HP now. You can get in enough trouble as it sits now. Wait till later when you have the need for speed somewhat out of your system.

I say do maintaince, the cars are old, lots of bushings and other parts in the suspension need to be changed.

 

I agree. Do a full tune up and get the car running the best you can. Then, if you have that craving for a little more horsepower, you could put a couple bolt ons on the car (headers, cold air intake system, cat back exhaust, etc.)

Yeah I agree. Get the car running good, like new plugs and wires, distributer cap&rotor, filters, etc. As far as more power, you could do an intake manifold, carb/injectors, exhaust,(maybe shift kit...)but wouldn't recommend too much more. With 140,000 miles its still fine, but the engine may not be able to tolerate several high performance parts. Small add ons ok but wouldn't go farther. Just make it pretty, put a system in it.

 

What milage is a motor in prime?
