hey new at this not sure i am doing this right. so dont get to pissed! got my son an 89 iroc z. going through it the jasper rebuild sold as a 4 bolt but ended up as 2 bolt,so watch out for that! any way its locked up! got a good 4 bolt block 2 pc rear seal were going to put together. he wants to go with a carb.so we found you all and read some stuff and joined.thanks! well we want to rid of and make a clean job of ridding of wiring.we read all on RH side can go. then what just uncover and follow remainding stuff on LH side back inside of car? also we are going with turbo 350 trans. with a quick look its 3 inches shorter than 700r. were these installed in earlier model cars? can we find drive shaft and cross member? what years? and can we take tail shaft off the 700 and put on the 350 turbo,so we can hook up torque arm. thanks for your input !

 

welcome. as for installing the th350, there were no third gens factory equipped with that trans. however, there are swap kits to install one. i tried to find on online, i didnt find anything, but i do know they exist. they include the shifter and a new cross member and its pretty much bolt it. as far as the driveshaft, you can take it to a trans shop to have them cut it and add the additional length needed. the tail shafts should not swap between the to as far as i know.

if you dont mind me asking, whats wrong with the trans that is in it currently? the 700r4 uses much of the same internal parts as the th350 and later models were stronger. you can swap in the parts to use the 700r4 with a carb, or if its computer controlled, you can buy a stand alone tcm to use it.
