Default New Camaro Iroc Z needs a new motor

Hello all my name is Eric. I just traded for my first Chevy Camaro. She is a 1986 Iroc z. The car is in great shape but it has a 327 from a 60's year corvette. I having big trouble with this older style v8. What would be an easy motor to throw in? will a 305 from a truck work? I will post up pics later today.

"but it has a 327 from a 60's year corvette". You should say and it has a 327, not but!
That is a great, and valuable engine to have. What is the problem with it?

Well the problem is that its an old motor and all the alternator bracket is on the wrong side. and i am tossed up to on weather to switch the brackets around or just swap in an newer 305. im looking to sell the car. And as far as cash goes i shouldnt be an issue with just a stock type swap.

get swap the bracket around or do what you need to do to make it work. having a 327 in it would bump its value up at least $500 more than having a 305 in it. its not a common engine, and is much better than the 305 availible as well as the 350 offered in the 87-up f-bodies

the big problem with the 327 that the car came with is the guy that put it in really didnt know what he was doing. So he has the alternator on the wrong side with the wrong brackets and it not wired in right and none of my gauges work in the car. Im just looking for way to get the car running and ready to sell. i might just end up selling the 327 with the car.

huh???

you want to swap an engine just because of the location of an alternator? Am I missing something?

Does it run?

and last question, what did you do to visually confirm that the engine is in fact a 327?
