Default Need some help with stuborn battery light

The battery light won't go out on my 86 4bbl camaro. The battery is brand new and the alternator is putting out 14 volts and tested good at autozone. I have no idea why it won't go it. The light isn't fully bright, just a little dim. There is also a faint buzzing noise that I hear coming from the dash that sounds like a seatbelt buzzer or something. Any help would be great. Thanks

Ok, but what's the voltage reading at the battery when the engine is running?

Then I wouldn't worry about your charging system. Sounds like you may have a funky ground somewhere. Try and find that buzzer and see what's up with that. Don't know if that's related to your ghost light, but maybe.

i encountered issues with the printed circuit board shorting on the back of the gauges. voltage can "leak" across and from the sound of it, is finding a path through the charge light and door buzzer. i had no way of correcting mine and just put in aftermarket gauges

Thanks for the info. I'm gonna pull the cluster to see whats going on back there. Also i found out today after taking the car on the road for the first time, that the light goes away when i floor the accelerator, then comes back as the engine speed slows down.

i have your answer, according to the factory manual the choke heater relay under the dash is whats making that faint buzzing sound,it says that of the two small wires going to the alt ,the brown wire at terminal #1 (the field wire) is got a problem somewhere not enough of a problem to cause it to fail to charge(YET) just enough resistance to cause the faint light.i have to tell you ,resistance means heat which could lead to a fire so a set of aftermarket gauges WONT help at all. start at the alt. wires and work your way back and im sure you can fix your problem CORRECTLY i hope this helps, and good luck

that's awesome thanks. Ill start with that brown wire. And for the buzzing is that normal or is the choke heater on its way out?

I followed the brown wire from the alternator to the choke heater relay and its all intact. The buzzing is coming from the relay as rusty vango said. Im not sure where to go from here.
