Default need help won't stay running

so I decided to drive to the gas station and for some reason I went through 3 fuses and every time i turned on the lights the fuse would pop and i lose my dash lights and tail lights. I decided to go ahead and go to the gas station anyway and once I got home I went inside for a bit and then went back out and tried to figure out what the issue was. I found a switch hidden under the dash and flicked it with no result (then anyway). Now the car will start as long as i give it some gas but the second I let off it dies and there's a very strong smell of fuel. I'm STRONGLY considering just ditching the TBI and picking up a carbed 383 just to ditch all the electrical issues. till then I need some help trying to pinpoint whatever issue i'm having with this motor.. thanks

check the wiring on the fog lights. there is something bare and is shorting to ground. i would say leave them off until you fix it. as for it running badly after flipping a switch, flip the switch back

i did with no resolve, turns out it was some kind of alarm that the previous owner had installed and removed the alarm light. not exactly sure how it all worked but I took it to a friend and the guys in the shop looked at it for a few and got the alarm taken off and now it runs fine, no fuse issues anymore.... problem solved... for now at least.
