I don't mean to keep pounding the same drum but
"the guy was going to replace the pistons"
again, it's not something you do for giggles and you don't just replace pistons, it needs to be machined if you are going to do it correctly and it needed pistons.
Do you mind my asking what you paid? If $300 or less then you have a block and perhaps a crankshaft which need to be sent to the shop for work
what are your hopes for the engine?
Do you know if it's a 2 or 4 bolt main?
Are the valve cover bolts on the sides or in the center?
Do you know if it's a roller cam?
I've yanked engines before which were "running" but I sure would not put them back into a vehicle if I wanted perfomance or future reliability.

Read this, I still haven't found my own sheets...
They are probably somewhere covered in oil, but until then you definitely should read this, pretty good build imo. 502hp 471tq $5300
