I bought an 86 z28. When I got the car the original TPI305 had been removed and replaced with a late 70's carburated 305. all the wiring was just tied off to the sides and only what was needed was used.... the problem is that most the gages didn't work so I plan on replacing the gauge panel with an autometer setup. My question is the mess under the hood... I don't really now what to cut out and what to leave as far as the wiring is concerned. I live in NY so I'm gonna do away with most the emissions bull I only want what I need to have it running and have working lights and horn so it will pass inspecion. I'm gonna put in a 350.

 

Being that you said you live in NY, your car isnot going to pass ispection if you remove any emission stuff. Go to this link for NY DMV inpection regs. The car needs to be 26 or more years old to be exempt from emission inspection. So you will need towait until 2012to avoid inspection.

isnt how old the car has to be based on when the clean air act was introduced? so it will never be old enough right?
