Question Looking for suggestions.........

I am looking into buying a 86' Iroc/Z28. The seller is asking $2000 for the car. The body has no rust and currently has a 305 that the previous owner swapped from a Monte. The car was changed over from auto to a 5speed, posi rear end with 4:10 gears . The tranny and rear are from a trans am. The thing that is bothering me is the fact that the car doesnt shut off right away when you shut off the key. This tells me that the timing is set way to high. So I am looking for anyones thoughts on this car.

Is the car worth the $2000?
What other problems mite there be, associated with the timing issue?

The timing isnt an issue just turn it done and it will be fine.

regular gas in a high compression motor will do that to.

It sounds like a Frankencar with to many add on that are not working. For the amount of money and the continuing paoblems you can expect, I would walk or better run from this so called deal.

Didint buy the hacked up 86' but I just bought a 83' Iroc-Z that has the original motor and 5spd tranny. It's black with blue int. Needs paint and tires but runs good and only paid 1G so I have another 2G's to play with for now.

Good decision on the other car. However; I hope you know they DID NOT make Iroc-z in 1983.

Yah I think the dash was replace cause the dash says Z28 Iroc-Z But I looked up the VIN and it says its a Z28 just not the Iroc.
