you wont find a factory IROC with the 350TPI ( not carbed 350s in the IROC, only TPI) and a 5 speed. If you want the 5 speed, either swap in a 5 speed, or get a different car with a 305 5 speed and swap in a 350

The reason GM did not offer the 5 speed with the 350 is because it could not handle the Torque. It you want a dependable setup you will need toupgrade the internal parts on the T-5 or get a aftermarket 5 speed.

My 86 iroc was fuel injected. I dont know that many had carbs from the factory. I am going with a carb when i drop the 355 in it, maybe tomorrow. My friend has the trans and every thing bolted on ready to drop in it. He thinks ill need a diff hood which im not looking forward to.

The irocs with the 350 5 speed arent that easy to find.

think they made them 87-89 maybe through 90

Chevrolet didnt offer a 350 (5.7 litre) and a 5 speed--they just dont exist. The only options were already mentioned--either buy a 5.0 litre with a 5 speed or buy a 5.7 litre and change the tranny to a 5 speed.

Good luck on finding a decent IROC for 7 or less. Every single one i found was a piece of crap and i finally swindled my girlfriends brother for his for 2. And it still needs a boat load of work. ;]

All I wanted to know is what the heck is an I-ROC crab?.... I guess the question is moot now.

if you want the 350 you are going to have to start with an automatic tranny. i suggest you start with a 305 with a manual and replace the engine with a 350 later. its cheaper and less of a hassle to find that a good used manual to swap in later. maybe start with alate model RS. they are cheaper than the Z-28's, were more likely to have a manual trans (though this does depend on where you live) , and if you are planning to swap new stuff (like a 350) in later, why waste the money buying the z-28 upgrades the first time. and the previous poster is right. the early model cars with the carbs had issues. i have an 84 Z-28 that didnt run well for more than 6 months at a time until i stripped the computer.
