I just emailed you don't know if you will get it. LS1 not a 91 305... LS1 has more HP (stock) than the LT1 and the LS1 is all aluminum and is lighter! Especially if you are looking to modify. I have a 98 for sale. It is hard to find what I have. Are you looking to race it? if so, I hope so with 500hp if I read what you were wanting to do correctly. YOu want an automatic coupe, clothe not leather (clothe is lighter) Cant race convert. and are limited with t-tops and they are heavy. If you are going to race you want to get as light as possible. My husband drag races; NHRA/IHRA. My husband will email you pics of mine sometime tonight... It's nice!

Go with the LS1 it is a better design., is lighter & makes more power stock. The LT1 is not bad but it was temporary solution until the LS1 was available. Aftermarket parts will become more available for the LS1 and nothing new is being developed for the LT1 being that it is no longer in production.

Just an idea. Do you want to drive people crazy? Keep your Mustang and put the Lt1 power train it. This might just be my next project.

That would be awesome to do, just think of a mustang reving it up to you, and you do it back, i wonder what they would think about it.

Well I think that with either choice you would be better off. As for the best choice. Well I will tell you what I say on Horsepower TV. They had a Camaro with the LS1 in it and they had to drop the motor from the bottom. This meant they needed to remove alot of the under components. I do know that the LS1 has more power and has much better heads but the other question is the tolerances for the aluminum block. Look at this way with 500hp I don't think I would be too concerned about which one I had.

You don't have to remove the engine that way, it's just easier when you have a lift to do it that way. I just put a new motor in my car and took it out from the top, it really was not that bad. Also your 93 would be the same way.

With hp figures up around 500hp, it's whoever has the most money. LS1s are going to be faster with basic mods, but once you get into heavily modding, it's anybody's ball game.

With 500rwhp, it's going to be expensive, no matter which way you go. In that case, I would choose the LT1 because they can be had for cheaper, and that means more money for mods. You can be happy with either the LT1 or the LS1.

In all honesty, even an L98 wouldn't be a bad choice, as it's a 1st generation sb. You can pretty much do anything to an L98 that you can do to a 1967 350ci.
