I dissconnected the timing connector......
On the last post i was having a problem with the timing. I found out that I may have bad spark plug wires and need to change the spark plugs and wires, but I have a problem with the jerking of the car. It might be a miss fire, which leads me to believe the wires are bad. Now when I unplugged the timing connector I was able to Time the car to where its supposed to be and then I plug the connector back in and its fine, minus the jerking in fourth gear. The trouble starts when I turn off the car after plugging the timing connector back in, it advances the timing and the check engine light goes off. I cant seem to get the PROM chip to reset like i thought it would and I cant have the car running without the timing connector connected. Is there a way to solve this problem? PLEASE REPLY...............thanks

RE: I dissconnected the timing connector......
try disconnecting the battery for about half an hour to reset the computer. if that doesnt work, invest in plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. also, check that the wires arent crossed somewhere and are causing an inductive crossfire (jumping from the correct wire to the wrong wire)
