I dissconnected the timing connector......
On the last post i was having a problem with the timing. I found out that I may have bad spark plug wires and need to change the spark plugs and wires, but I have a problem with the jerking of the car. It might be a miss fire, which leads me to believe the wires are bad. Now when I unplugged the timing connector I was able to Time the car to where its supposed to be and then I plug the connector back in and its fine, minus the jerking. The trouble starts when I turn off the car after plugging the timing connector back in, it advances the timing and the check engine light goes off. I cant seem to get the PROM chip to reset like i thought it would and I cant have the car running without the timing connector connected. Is there a way to solve this problem? PLEASE REPLY...............thanks
disconnect the battery for at least 20 seconds. that resets the PCM. and also , your suposed to turn the car off , then reconnect the connector. unplug it with the car off and plug it in the car off, not with the engine running or the key on.
