ive seen rating of 225-245, depending on who you get the info from. many say its higher, and was reduced for the insurance companies. i read the old test results of the 1990 iroc-z vs the top of the line mustang at the time. both ran exactly the same quarter mile times, although the mustang had better 60' times, but the camaro had the higher speed. also, the top speed of the 350 tpi was 146 on a big track, with the engine right at the meat of the power. the mustang managed 135 in 5th at about 4300 rpm. since the mustang was not a production car at the moment, the designer (something new was on it), said to do it in 4th gear. it ran it at 139 and consequently blew the engine up
i have a basicly stock 86 305 auto, just a tune up, intake mod, and no muffler. i went up against an efi 5.0 mustang with headers and full exhaust, full intake, and underdrive pulleys, also with an auto. i was able to beat him, but not much. but considering the mustang is lighter, i made up for it somehow
