fusible link

Thats what I thought but its all the same guage right there. Trying to get this no start problem fixed is turning into an international manhunt. Battery is good, getting power to the starter, brand new ignition switch and nothing happens when I turn the key. Fuses are all good, could the fuse panel go bad and not blow all the fuses? Maybe the ignition coil or module? I am at a loss here.

if its not turning over it s not a coil or module. check to see if your getting juice to the small solonoid wire when key is turned to start. if so it could be the solonoid is bad. is it clicking at all. u may have a bad ignition switch. like u say the fuse is usually in the solonoid wire but could be between the battery and the wire junction box if u have one. not sure on the 80s models.

Yea, it is not turning over at all, its almost like it is getting no power. But my battery is good, my headlights come on, but nothing that requires the key to be turned on will work. I just put a brand new ignition switch in it yesterday and it still doesn't help. I put a multimeter to the starter with the battery in and its reading 12.6v so its getting power to it.

please help :( same problem
my car is doing the same thing man, 81 Monte Carlo. turn the key, and no go. no clicks or anything. everything else powers up though. i changed two fusible links off my starter in an attempt to fix the problem but to no success. any insight would be greatly appreciated, too nice of car to hit the scrap yard

so do you have vats or security system in it? if so it may be the resistor on the key has failed or needs cleaned. also could be the pickup inside the key slug that reads the key is failing or a bad wire or connection in the column.

no security, i dropped my starter today and it only enages out but doesnt rotate. im pickin up a racing starter on thursday. gonna pop that bad boy in an see what she`ll do. if not i was thinking maybe the igition, sometimes those keys wear down an doesnt fully connect. but yeah, if its neither of those ill be super stumped ha.
