Fuel Cut Off Switch??
I am doing some renovations to my 1985 IROC-Z. When i took the intake off I noticed that it was missing some sort of switch or connector near the back, towards the firewall. Is there somesort of fuel switch or a switch that cuts the fuel off if it doesnt detect oil pressure or anything that has to do with fuel? I am not getting fuel pressure and want to make sure everything is in place before i go installing a fuel pump because the wiring is all messed up under the hood. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks.
The fuel pump switch is part of the oil pressure sending unit. It needs at least 5 PSI to close. There is a pump primnig relay which powers the pump when you first turn the key on, but drops off in within 5 seconds. If the engine does not start within 5 seconds or the oil pressure does not come up, the pump will be powered down.
