First project car
to start off this is my first project car and i will be asking many questions so i figured id make an all purpose thread rather than creating many.
first problem so far is i got this car knowing little about it. what i do know is posted in my introduction thread but i will repost here for ease:
its an 86 Camaro. was the v6 but now has a 355 and lots of extras:
10pt roll cage
steel crank
high velocity oil guage
double roller timing chain
488 lift cam
194 heads
12.5 to 1
5.7 rods
550 4-bbl holley
tall chevy embossed timing covers
HEI distributer
7 core aluminum radiator
custom drive shaft with heavy duty U-joints
TCI 3speed 350 with head shift kit
now for your help:
1. i just installed the 145mph v8 cluster but i have no info on the motor itself so i dont think the original wiring harness was completely hooked up. is there a generalized way of where certain things(rpm, fuel, temp, pressure) are hooked up. or a better question, is there a way to figure out what motor i have, though there arent any numbers on it?
thanks in advanced

best thing you can do is pick up a factory service manual for your yr camaro. heres a example for ya.

once you get the layout figured out you ll have it. so much info in the books every time i open it i find stuff i didnt know. and fyi the wire colors are abbreviated in the diagrams.
