you have plenty of choices to wake up that 305

the easy choices would be

Borla
Magnaflow
Mac
Flowmaster(my least favorite)

those are some of the basic catback's that many guys choose from

Headers make a huge difference

Hooker
Headman
Edlebrock

those are the biggest choices, and i listed them from most preferred to least, you can also go Shorties, mid length, or Long tube, but i would stick with shorties if your not looking to cut and notch your car

or you could piece a system together with your choice of any muffler you want

or you could have a custom system put on by a shop, which alot of guys with Major mod's or a lowered car prefer so they can get the exhaust tucked and have good enough ground clearance

LOL, what is this, something like an AA or GA meeting?

hello, my name is torque_is_good and my car sounds like a turd........

Summit brand shorties are a low budget choice as well and then match them wit a y pipe and cat back. it all comes down to your budget

yup, that's why i suggested the summit shorties. They are actually flowtechs and he could add the y pipe which i think is the flowtech part which ends in 11120 or something like that,

well i can't help it my car sounds like a dying squirrel and i can't stand it. I used to have a 97 mustang gt modded and now i have this and i am trying to get into it because they are easier to build and alot less costly. I guess i screwed up starting out wqith a 305 tbi bc it won't fall out of a damn tree. It is just horrible compared to my gt. My gt was a quick nice street car and this dude i put the pedal to the floor the other day and i laughed my *** off. I dont even think it will out run a damn stock honda 4 banger. It sounds horrible, and is just ungodly slow and sucks at performance. i do need help on figuring out what i can do to make this terd run and sound better.

Man, I had a 91 RS 305, and it didn't perform nearly as bad as you're describing yours to be. I wonder if maybe your exhaust is restricted (plugged cat perhaps)?
Here's the low budget cat back exhaust I put on mine.
