found it, wired it in, running around 220 degrees, I was 90% sure the wing shouldn't be there, wasn't sure about the side skirts but thanks for the info. so far I can live with the body ( fixing a few dents and some paint) but the motor has to go, I just bought a 383 for it ( being delivered this week) not sure of hp but was rated at 480hp (at the fly), was looking at a 600hp 383 out of a b-mod car but don't want to run 110 all the time so I decided to keep it half way street able. not sure if the 700r4 will hold the power with out a rebuild so the search is now on for a stronger trans, also i purchased the posi rear end from the 82 (4:11 gear I think) along with the drag suspension, headers, digital dash, and the interior. going to have a friend help with the rear end going from drum to disc. hope to have the build done in two to three weeks.

are you going to stick with the tpi or switch to carb? you will make more power for less with the carb. im about $2k into my fuel injection and my engine is only making about 60% of its potential horsepower

Well, I wanted to stick with the TBI but.....( we took it to a "mechanic" today, wanted the thermostat changed. He STRIPPED the front bolt and tore the threads out of the manifold so now it's just sitting) I'm unsure, I've been looking ALL afternoon for a used TBI intake and cant find one. A new one is about $800, $600 more than I care to spend on one. I may just go carb and ditch the TBI now. Wanted a stock look but not if it's $800 for an intake manifold. I'm still a bit heated over the whole thing, the dude had the nerve to say it was MY fault because I didn't tell his mechanic to stop wrenching on the bolt so he's not going to do anything to fix this issue and we had to get the car towed home.

you can go to autozone and get a thread repair kit. just take the bolt with you to match it up. mine stripped out too. i spent $17 for the kit and fixed it. and your car is tpi, not tbi.

The guy that did the work must have got the rear bolt to move so it's spitting coolant like crazy. I tried to tighten it up again but it's rusted and on the verge of snapping off. I ordered the intake manifold and have begun the process of removing the intake. Amazingly quite complicated to remove however I have got it 99% done, snapped my bit on the last bolt holding the intake on. The manifold should be here the 10th so it's not a time issue at all. I decided to pick up an electric water pump (a friends for $50 he used for about a week) and just realized (after putting it on) I have nowhere to bolt the alternator bracket. The stock pump is shot I'm sure, looks OE. Any tricks to making a mount or buying one somewhere? The 383 won't be ready to bolt in for about 6 to 8 months and I'm not wanting to drive the 4 banger again.

also, when reinstalling the intake. leave the runner low bolts loose until the plenum is in. then tighten them. otherwise you will destroy the gaskets. and you will need a long extension to reach the two bolt on the inside of the lower intake. its better than trying to fit a wrench in
