carb or fuel injected?

Default carb or fuel injected?

i have a 1984 camaro that i bought about two months ago and ive been rebuilding it i had a 350 from 71 and about a week ago a 87 firebird kind of fell in my lap it has a 350 thats fuel injected from 87 im not sure which one to use anyone have an opinion or which i should use?thanks for the help.

Well if you plan on building the motor, I'm assuming that the fuel injected motor is a TPI motor, this motor will be more expensive to build than the carbureted motor. It depends on how much money that you want to put into this project.

the carb 350s already built and money shouldnt be that much of a problem

The TPI motor, again I'm still assuming that this is still a TPI motor, will be some trouble to swap. You should have everything that you will need to perform the swap in the Firebird, if it was originally equipped with a TPI motor.

being that i just did a tpi build, i can say it costs A LOT! if you already have the carb motor built, go for that. with it being older, it will be a stronger block, no emissions junk, and would still be legal to run carb if you have emissions in your area

sorry yea its a tpi, i dont know if it helps but the full story is about 3 months ago i bought a 1984 camaro no motor or trans. i had an old 350 that my uncle had in his elcamino along with a 350 trans we were going to use those but the motor was pitted due to it sitting in the weather to long. we talked to a friend of my uncles and he gave us the stock 350 four bolt main out of his dads 71 pick up. we took a few of the after market parts out of the first 350 and built the carb 350. then about a week ago a buddy gave me his 87 firebird with a 87 350 tpi that he beefed up alittle im not sure which motor to use. i dont know if that helped any but as far as money and difficulty goes im pretty patient so which evers best is the one i want to go with.

i would still go with the older engine. its stronger, its a four bolt (assuming the 350 tpi was a stock motor), and the upgrades required to allow the fuel injection to keep up with the mods is expensive. i spent about $1000 alone on my fuel injection parts for my car so they would correctly match my upgrades
