Which of the camaro's are the fastest? (LT1, LS1, Z28/SS)

 

Im going to be very blunt..not going to give any specs but the SS Camaro..However I believe one the newer models the ss and z28 have the LS1 the SS has a few more upgrades than the Z...

 

The SS and Z28 make the same horse power on the LS1s and the SS makes slightly more than the Z28 on the LT1s(pretty much from the better exhaust and freer flowing intake). The SS does have a better suspension package, but that doesn't necessarily contribute directly to "fast." If you're looking for fastest stock, get a 98-02(LS1) Z28 or SS with a six speed.

I dont know much about the camaro. What are the other models? That stay close to $10k?

 

the LT1 is the engine from 93-97 and z28s and SSs can be found easy for 10K
LS1 is the engine from 98-02 and you can find a Z28 for around 10K or less, but an SS might be a little harder to find for that price

you could find an RS for that much too, but i dont know if you would want one

 

Where I live you can get a 93-97 for well under 10K....and usually a 98-02 models with 100K+ miles for around 9-10k.....The other models are.

RS Camaro: V6 as well
Z28(1993-1997):V8 LT1
Z28(1998 2002):V8 LS1
SS(1993-1997):V8
SS(1998-2002) V8 as well LS1

 

The fastest is the 1998-2002 SS Camaro which came with the LS1

 

Well if your looking for a third gen (82-92) I'd go with the 1989 Iroc-z. Its a 350 TPI and puts out 230 stock hp.
Or if your looking for a fourth gen (93-02) I'd go with a 2002 ss camaro. its got a LS1 350 engine, and its prolby the stock fastest year.
