Youd have to change alot of things. a T56 swap costs at minimum 2000-2500 buying used parts off the forums and ebay. Of course it can cost however much your willing to spend.

you could get a shift kit for a 700r4 that would beef it up, but why not convert it to stick. go buy a wrecked 5speed third gen and swap what you need from it, and after that you might have a good parts car.

There is a lot of mis information out there. The 4L60 (E) is the same exact transmission as the 700R4. The only difference may be spline for the torque convertor, and the (E) is electronically controlled. But even if your computer doesn't have that provision there are plenty of aftermarket devices (cheap too). The auto to manual thing is played out on this forum. I really don't believe its worth it, plus even a mildly rebuilt 700R4/4L60 can take way more Hp/Tq than a T-5.

some people dont want to build there camaros into high HP drag monsters. me i like just shifting through the gears manually. im converting my 86 iroc from auto to stick in a couple months. getting an 83 Z28 donor car next payday so it should work out good.

I didn't say anything about high horsepower motors. The whole auto/manual conversion threads on the forum are played out.

a t56-at5-4l60-4l80e-a th350 and a th400 will all fit. will all bolt up to your engine. i have seen t56's go from anywhere near 950 to 2500. for 2500 you can get a built one. so it is up to you.
