I just installed a aftermarket temp gauge so I had to disconnect the factory plug from the block and now I am throwing a check engine light. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do?

well, if you unplugged the factory sensor, it will throw a coolant sensor voltage circuit code, or something like that, because on our cars, all the gauges(i believe, may vary depending on the year)except for the speedo are run through the computer, so it will throw a fault code, as for what you can do. a. ignore it or b. unplug your check engine bulb

Was it a green wire to a sender on the head you unplugged? There is a big, almost silver dollar sized sensro on the bottom off the block with a blue wire. Thats the knock sensor and it will throw a code. There is also a temp sensor for the computer located on the intake manifold. that will throw a code. The temp sender for the gauge shoulsd be independant of the sensor for the computer. The computers sensor has a yellow and a black wires
