every time i start it the idle soars.and comes slowly back down. the transmission is a 4L60E which is electronic and shouldnt be in there. wont shift out of second gear. possible trans control module needed to make it shift right??? the engine always runs and sounds like a desiel. changed all the plugs and wires air filters.cleaned the throttle blades. running on premium and still the same. help!!!

 

RS has 305 TBI not 305 TPI, so the problem may be different with these engines. So which one do you have?????

 

check the egr or idle air control valve.

 

its a 305 out of a 92 caprice its TBI as far as i know. TBI-throttle body injected. the injectors are squirt injectors and sit right in the center of the throttle body.
