Hey watsup i just got my 87 camaro about 2 months ago and i blew the tranny already. (it was the original tranny from 87). As i was looking for a new tranny i had the thought of making it manual while i had the chance.

NOW, my question is what tranny can i throw into my car?
i beleive i was told i only had 2 options which were...

T-5
T-56 ????

Are there any better trannys?

well with the T-56 which were in the 93-02 camaros and TA's, theres a bit of modifications to in order to install the transmission correctly. depending on how bad you wanna fix up your car, you probably want to go with the 400 turbo trans and stay automatic as they can take more power and abuse.

 

X2 I can never understand why so many people want to put in manual transmissions. Sure they can be fun, but that 700R4/4l60 can take way more abuse and will stand tough. Mine lasted 152,000miles before I replaced it with a modded one from Hughes. Just for fun, I disassembled it and it still looked great. In fact a buddy of mine bought it for a C10 project.
