Default 85 z28 lots of problems

well I traded a grand am for this car it is a 1985 z28 with a 305 with a quadrajet and it has 88,000 miles on it. well i go to change the plugs and everyone is so loose that i could wiggle them loose. well i changed them and the guy said the choke sticks closed well when I shut the car of after riding around for a min it acts like it doesnt want to shut off and clunks....I think I am just gonna slap a edelbrock on there and call it good what else do I need to do to put a carb on

Well that chugging could be due to the choke sticking. Well you could just spray a little carb clean or WD40 to free the linkage and all up. Well if you take off the feedback carb and install a non-electric one on there your gonna have to do some other things. Well if you do a search you will find many threads on the subject. Well the Q-jet is a better carb. Good primaries for cruising and a hell a big secondaries for when you gotta mash the gas.

Like throwing money down a well...........

Seriously, clean the carb up. Spray the linkage, make sure the butterfly moves. If you have never sprayed carb cleaner into a running engine, well, it takes some practice at first to keep it running. Go slowly. Good luck. Let us know if it all turns out well.

PS-we all take turns gettin our ***** busted around here. Welcome to the club.
