82 help. im new.
Hey. i just bought my first camaro. they dident tell me what was wrong with it. just that it had been setting 11 years. 6 years since it was last moved. i dident really czr i just knew i had to have it. got it home and got it runing. here is the funy part. i put the car on jack stands. so now the whole car is off the ground. i put the breaks to the floor and began going threw the gears only to find that i dont have park neutral or reverse. here is the problem. ive got a couple transmissions ready to go in but they wont work due to the mount for the torq arm. what do i do? i found a replacement tranny but its to long. any suguestions for my problem?
??? Check to make sure your shift linkage isn't stuck, loose, falling off, or out of adjustment. I question it being a tranny problem because for park, the linkage on the trans drops a pawl into a notched wheel that's connected to the output shaft, which keeps the transmission (and wheels) from turning. Park is not a "gear", like the other positions are.
lol...yeah, almost as neat of a sound as when you put playing cards in your bicycle spokes.
lol. ive heard that sound before. i checked the linkage. it was working right. i found reverse one time and when it was in it the tires went backwards like they should have. but it dident take long for them to stop as if i pulled the e break. and in park neutral and reverse the moter would bog down around 1500 rpm. in the foreward gears the wheels would turn and the moter would peg out if i wanted it to. ive asked several fellow car enthusiast here and they have never heard of anything like it before. so i removed the tranny. and removed the pan. it looks way to clean and its obvious thats its been opened before. its got a shift kit in it. and there was alot of loose bolts when i took the combo out. ( moter/tranny) is it posible someone did something wrong when installing the shift kit ?
