700r4 rebuild- Where does this clip go?
I'm in the middle of building up my 700 trans for my 86 camaro. I just finished the tear-down and im waiting for the new parts to come in so i can put it all back together. There is just one clip that i am not sure where it goes. It came out from somewhere in between the last clutch pack in the bottom of the trans. If anyone can tell me what it is for and where it goes, i will be very greatful

That would be the center support (anti clunk) spring. Take a look at this picture, waaaay down there at the top. Does the placement look familiar? http://www.mez.co.uk/dcam/DSCF0824.JPG
Here's an exploded view of the trans. Page 2, part #639: http://www.detranscatalog.com/wp-con...L60E-4L65E.pdf

I got all the parts and i started putting everything back together. For some reason i cannot get the clutch pack clearances right for s**t. It seems like someone may have rebuilt this trans before and left out some parts, because some things are missing. For the Low/reverse pack all the way at the bottom of the trans, there was no wave plate against the piston underneath the first steel. It seems they left it out to keep just enough clearance, because if the wave plate was in there, it would be very tight. I got an oem spec rebuild kit and im stacking the clutches exactly how they are suppose to be.
What problems would arise from leaving that bottom wave plate out? Because if i go and get one and add it in there the clearance would be very tight. They did the same for the reverse drum. Instead of putting waveplate, steel, clutch, there is no wave plate and the pack started from the bottom with steel, clutch, steel, ect. And also, if i was to add the waveplate there would be no clearance.
Any help would be great.
